Couple of weeks ago we visited the flea market in downtown Cordoba. It was the first time We went to that part of town, and I found it incredibly interesting, colorful, and somehow bohemian.
The first stall we visited was full of antiques. Most of them with the European flare of the best Argentine times. I was in the in the look out for an thimble, old spools, or some other crafty antique; and what I actually found was this.
I couldn't reach it from were I was standing, so I asked the lady in charge to reach it for me so that I could take a look. I thought it was only an empty Singer tin box but to my surprise it had four different sewing machine foot, and a big needle. The seller had no idea what those were, and didn't even ask the price of that box after showing that much excitement. I told my husband, and he told me I should have buy it. Oh well, I said, maybe next time.
Next time did happen, and I couldn't find the box :(
I decided to ask for it, and it was brought out from under a bunch of other stuff. We bargained for the right price, because that's part of the fun and that's the way to buy here. The Singer box is mine now!!
I do have an antique Singer sewing machine still packed with the rest of the unpacked stuff. And I'm almost sure the foot shoud fit. I did spend some time finding what the foot were for, that's how I got to name the pieces in the picture. The needle gave me a hard time, after a while looking through the internet, I decided to ask my tweeps for some help. After an afternnon of tweets coming and going I can tell you that it's either a ball point needle or a needle punch for rug making.

Hace un par de semanas visitamos el mercado de pulgas de Córdoba. Fué la primera vez que fuimos a esa parte de la ciudad que me pareció increíblemente interesante, colorida y con un rico aire bohemio.
El primer puesto que visité estaba lleno de antigüedades, la mayoría con un aire europeo de los años dorados de la Argentina. Lo que en realidad estaba esperando ver en esos puesto era algún dedal o carretes de hilo antiguos. Lo que me encontré fué esto:
No lo podía alcanzar desde donde estaba y le pedí a la encargada que me dejara verlo. Pensé que era solo una latita vacía de Singer pero para mi sorpresa tenía adentro cuatro piés de máquina de coser y una aguja que se ve que también va en la máquina. La vendedora no tenía idea de lo que se trataba y yo ni me molesté en preguntar el precio después de demostrar mi emoción estrepitosa acerca del hallazgo. Le conté a mi esposo y me dijo que debí haberla comprado, “tal vez la próxima vez” le contesté yo.
Si hubo “próxima vez”. No podía encontrar la caja hasta que le pregunté a la mujer del puesto por ella y la sacó de abajo de un montón de tiliches antiguos. Negociamos el precio como parte de la diversión y ahora la caja de Singer es mía.
Tengo una máquina de coser antigua de Singer también que todavía está empacada. Estoy casi segura de que los piés le quedan. Me pasé un buen tiempo buscando información e identificando las piezas en la internet, fué asi que logré poner los nombres en la foto, aunque no sé como se traduzcan al español. Esa se las debo. La aguja fué la que me dió un poco de problema encontrar, así que le pedí ayuda a mis amigos en twitter y después de una tarde de averiguaciones llegamos a la conclusión de que es una aguja de punta redondeada que al coser evitando romper los tejidos de la tela o tal vez es una aguja para hacer las vueltas de lana de las alfombras.
Qué les parece?? para quedarse con la cajita, no?
